CVSA Roadcheck 2026: What Fleets in Central Indiana Should Check This Month
CVSA’s International Roadcheck is a 72-hour blitz that happens across North America. For 2026, CVSA announced the dates as May 12–14, 2026, with focus areas on ELD tampering (driver focus) and cargo securement (vehicle focus).
1) Cargo securement: the fast fails
- Straps/chains cut, frayed, stretched, or missing tags.
- WLL math doesn’t match the load (especially mixed pallets + equipment).
- Edge protection missing where straps cross sharp corners.
- Loose dunnage rolling around in a van/box or on a flatbed.
- Working winches/ratchets that actually lock and hold.
2) ELD tampering: what inspectors are looking for
- Power interruptions that “mysteriously” happen during driving time.
- Unusual engine/vehicle movement data vs. duty status.
- Loose/missing diagnostic connectors, splices, or aftermarket wiring.
- Drivers not able to quickly show current day + previous 7 days.
3) The big three mechanical OOS killers
- Lights: marker/stop/turn lamps, conspicuity, and trailer pigtails.
- Tires: low tread, exposed cords, mismatched sizes, sidewall damage.
- Brakes: air leaks, out-of-adjustment, chamber/clamp issues, linings/rotors.
4) Paperwork that saves time at the scale
- Current annual inspection paperwork (and readable VIN/plate matching).
- Driver able to explain the fleet’s inspection/repair reporting process.
- Basic load paperwork organized and easy to produce.
StayPut tip: Book a quick “Roadcheck Readiness” lane—one hour can prevent a full-day down event. If you want us to do a pre-inspection sweep on your lot, head to Contact and tell us how many units you want checked.
